ResiConMe \u2013 Green Methanol from H\u2082O + CO\u2082 and Renewable Energy<\/h2>

Through ResiConMe<\/strong>, KIB is collaborating with research partners to develop an innovative process for producing renewable methanol. The goal is to use biogenic CO\u2082 and renewable energy in a highly efficient, modular, and scalable process to produce green methanol. <\/p>

At the heart of the technology is the combination of high-temperature co-electrolysis with an intensified methanol synthesis process in a novel microstructured filament reactor. Through optimized process and heat integration, methanol production is expected to become economically viable, particularly for decentralized and medium-sized industrial applications. <\/p>

Current Status of Development<\/strong><\/p>

The project, funded by the DBU, is currently in the technological validation and scale-up phase. Key components of the filament reactor have already been manufactured and tested. In initial test series using catalytically coated filaments, methanol was successfully produced, thereby confirming the fundamental feasibility of the reactor concept. <\/p>

At the same time, preparations are underway for the next steps in development: the construction of a pilot plant, further validation of the overall process, and the transfer of the process to a modular industrial plant. A plant design with a production capacity of approximately 2,000 metric tons of methanol per year<\/strong> has already been developed for initial commercial-scale production. <\/p>

Our simulations help increase the efficiency of production facilities, conserve energy, and reduce operating costs.
